Finding Joy When Hope is Waning
The thing I like best about music is that it brings people together.
In my years working in production for a music venue, I always loved the preparation of a show, getting to know the artists, and helping them get ready to perform.
If I could, I would catch the soundcheck earlier in the day, so that by the time the show started, I wouldn't watch the band, I would look out to the crowd to see the excited faces during the first song.
That's the best part of the performance. And that's the reason you guys do what you do.
We are the ones to bring the joy to people who need it.
But sometimes we can’t give joy, and we need to some joy and hope to be given back to us.
And so I want you know to know you're not alone. There’s comfort in knowing that everyone is going through the same thing together. It brings us closer together to share in the same fight. And it’s going to be okay.
If you’re scared, turn to creating something beautiful: write song lyrics, create art, play a melody, dig in the dirt, or even bake a crooked loaf of bread (like I did last week).
If you’re anxious, see if you can slow down and be grateful for the moment you’re living right now. Take deep breaths, close your eyes, meditate.
