What to do as a musician in March 2020?
Hope we’ll all hanging in there right now.
The COVID-19 Epidemic is causing a lot of businesses a lot of issues.
This photo of a bare stage is going to be a common scene until the end of March. And even then we don’t know what’s going to happen.
It’s a scary time. Everyone is wondering what’s going on.
The music and event business is going to be in trouble for a while and we don’t know when it will be better.
Your livelihood depends on performances, meeting people, and selling music and merch, and gaining more loyal fans.
But for now, we’re going to be stuck for a while.
So here are some tips on what you can do while you’re waiting to be able to perform again:
Work on your website.
Do you have a Squarespace or Weebly site you’ve been meaning to fix up and design to match your style? Now’s the time to redesign it and make it your own. Click here for more info on how to redesign your Squarespace site.
Learn about Google search results.
Research SEO and put keywords on the backend of your website, so that your name comes up first when people search it. Find out more about Squarespace SEO here.
Come up with some new designs for merch or album covers.
This is a hard time, but try to find some inspiration - draw, doodle, write. Come up with some new ideas on how you want to move forward.
Write new music.
A couple songs or maybe a whole album. See what you come up with!
Work on your on stage style.
Get some ideas from musicians who are similar to your genre of music. Who inspires you? Who do you aspire to be more like? Come up with some ideas from them and create a wish list on Pinterest. Go shopping online. Look into hiring a personal stylist like the Payton Project. She offers daily tips on her Patreon and it’s only $5/month!
Redesign your social media pages.
Freshen up your profile photos, banners, contact info and biography. Add new photos you’ve been meaning to add on Facebook and your website. Think of what people want to know about you and show them that.
This is hard time on us, but stay positive! I believe you can make the best of it. Hang in there!
